Your day is yours.
The short version
Jamaal is made by fhdamd (Fahad Ahmed) in Melbourne, Australia. The app keeps your tasks, habits and Anchors on your device and, if you choose to sync, in your own iCloud. We don't receive them. This website collects what you give it when you join the early-access list and, only if you accept, counts visits with Google Analytics.
The app
Jamaal has a single Today list. You create Tasks, Habits and Anchors, they appear on Today, and you plan tomorrow at the right time. Everything you create, and your Wellbeing reading, is stored on your device. If you turn on sync, it is stored in your own iCloud account, using Apple's services, under your Apple ID. fhdamd doesn't receive, read or store it.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We don't see your payment details; Apple tells us only whether a subscription is active.
This website
We use Google Analytics, through our Firebase project, to count visits to this website: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and what kind of device and browser they use. It sets cookies (_ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which last up to two years), so it only loads if you choose Accept in the banner. If you choose Decline, the site works the same and nothing is set. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer; declining later also removes the cookies we set.
We turn off Google signals and ad personalisation, we don't use this data for advertising, and we keep it for the shortest period Google offers. The Jamaal app collects no analytics at all.
If something on this website breaks in your browser, an error report may be sent to Sentry, our error-reporting service. It contains the error message and where in the code it happened, the page address without anything after a question mark, and your browser and device type. It never contains what you typed into a form, cookies or your name or email address, and we ask Sentry not to store IP addresses. The report also carries the approximate city your connection is in, which Sentry works out before it discards the address.
The site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and the pages requested) to run and secure the service. There are no other trackers.
The early-access list
If you join the list, we collect:
- your first name and email address, so we can write to you;
- once the TestFlight beta is open, which devices you plan to test on (iPhone, iPad or Mac);
- which form you used on the site, and when you joined.
We use them to email you when Jamaal is ready, when a TestFlight beta opens, and to send your beta invitation. We don't send anything else, and we don't sell or share your details or use them for advertising.
When the beta opens, we add the name and email you gave us to TestFlight through Apple's App Store Connect so Apple can email you the invitation. Apple handles them under its own privacy policy. Any email we send is sent through an email service provider that handles it on our behalf.
Your details are stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), in the United States, which processes them on our behalf. We keep them while the list is open and until you ask us to remove them.
To stop the form being abused, the signup service counts attempts from each network address. It keeps only a one-way hash of the address, never the address itself, and deletes it automatically within a day.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you at any time by emailing support@jamaal.app. We'll reply and act on it promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects the early-access list, we'll tell the people on it.
